Hi,

A little about me.

My name is Emily and my Chinese name is Hong.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Calvin University. During my undergraduate studies, I interned at Michigan Software Labs, where I gained experience in Android and web development and contributed to an application supporting a global product release for a Fortune 100 company. Most recently, I worked as a Full-Stack Software Developer at General Motors, building and modernizing enterprise applications that supported global purchasing and supply chain operations. My experience includes migrating systems from Oracle to PostgreSQL, improving cloud and Azure readiness, modernizing deployment processes, and designing applications for greater scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

I enjoy solving complex business problems, improving legacy systems, and delivering dependable software that creates meaningful value for its users. I am particularly interested in opportunities that allow me to take ownership of end-to-end solutions and contribute to system design decisions. I also continue to mentor students through the Women in Computing club and Girls Who Code at my alma mater. Outside of software development, you can often find me at the yoga studio working toward my yoga teacher certification and practicing my inversions.
